We want to support and develop young people in West Cumbria to gain the required skills to take on permanent roles within our organisation or in our local communities. Operating from the beautiful Westlakes Science Park near Whitehaven, you’ll be involved in the development and management of schemes like the recently refurbished Bus Station and our current scheme to create a Digital and Gaming Hub for West Cumbria.

What is a typical day at BEC like?

At BEC, every day is different. You’ll be involved in local projects that make a difference. As part of a small team, your voice really matters. Based at Westlakes Science Park, you’ll work with our team, partners, customers and communities to manage our let estate portfolio, progress regeneration and development schemes and help us be net zero carbon by 2030. We have many exciting projects on the go including a smart microgrid that will produce energy for our buildings and the creation of a performance venue and recording studio in the area.

Project Management Controls

Could you help us deliver key projects and activities?
Working in our Programmes and Developments functions you’ll study Project Management and will work with Sam and Steve to deliver exciting regeneration projects like the Bus Station and to engage our community with events and educational activities.

Sustainability

Corporate Responsibility/Sustainability Practitioner

Do you want to support our sustainability agenda?
Working with our Head of Sustainability you will work across all area of the business assessing options for energy generation and storage, understanding the implications of existing and new builds and working with our supply chain and our team to deliver our commitment to net zero.

Facilities Services

Facilities Management/Health and Safety

Could you help look after our customers and our buildings?
Working as part of our facilities team you will help take care of our buildings and the customers that use them, you will manage and deliver maintenance activity working with contractors and other suppliers to keep our buildings and customers safe and secure.

Support Services

Digital Marketing

Or maybe you could help tell our story and grow our customer base?
You will join our Support Services team providing central office services across the business. You’ll be involved in coordinating public and stakeholder consultation and events, marketing campaigns, social media marketing, copy-writing. protecting our brand identify and designing marketing collateral. You will lead on website and intranet development working closely with our Marketing and PR partner.
