We are delighted that our commitment to supporting the armed forces has been formally recognised.
As a community-focused organisation, we at BEC have always supported serving and former soldiers and the wider armed forces community.
And we are proud to have recently received a Bronze award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) after signing the Armed Forces Covenant.
It means BEC are formally committed to honour the covenant and support the Armed Forces community.
Signing the covenant means “we recognise the value Serving Personnel, both Regular and Reservists, Veterans and military families contribute to our business and our country”.
We will use the honour to continue and enhance our existing and long-standing links with the armed forces.
As an armed forces-friendly organisation we also ensure show flexibility towards any member of staff giving up their time for relevant work such as working with cadets, veterans, and other armed forces organisations.
We will also continue to support ex-forces personnel ensuring they are encouraged to apply for roles and supported when we recruit to fill job vacancies.
Delighted at the formal recognition, BEC Chief Executive Officer, Michael Pemberton – himself a British Army Reserve Officer and Quartermaster with the Royal Logistic Corps – said: “This honour is another example of our genuine commitment and passion to support a community that protects others or have served our community in such a dedicated fashion.
“Now we have signed the Armed Forces Covenant and received the Bronze award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme we will use it as a platform to embrace further opportunities to help a community whose current and former personnel are highly skilled.
“We are now working towards achieving the Silver and Gold ERS awards.”
The Armed Forces Covenant is designed to ensure the nation does all it can to ensure the Armed Forces community are treated fairly and are not disadvantaged in their day-to-day lives.
