Could you become a BEC apprentice?

We are BEC.  We Build Extraordinary Communities.

Operating from the beautiful Westlakes Science Park near Whitehaven, BEC is looking to appoint four amazing, community minded apprentices to join our team and help deliver our most ambitious regeneration plans to date.

We drive valuable regeneration that benefits local communities by reinvesting profits from our let estate portfolio into community driven, environmentally sensitive developments.

You’ll be involved in the development and management of schemes like the recently refurbished Bus Station and our current scheme to create a Digital and Gaming Hub for West Cumbria.

Do you care about the community we live in? Do you want to make a difference? Then BECOME A BEC APPRENTICE.

We are launching our very first BECADEMY.

We believe that as an organisation, we offer a real chance to shape better communities and present apprentices with real life work experiences, offering the chance to become directly involved in work and projects that not only result in seeing success and rewards but also leave a lasting legacy for future generations.

We want to support and develop young people in West Cumbria to gain the required skills to take on permanent roles within our organisation or in our local communities.

“Hi, i’m Rachel and I joined BEC in 2017 as a Business Administration Apprentice after leaving school
.  I advanced to a degree apprenticeship in Applied Management and I graduate in June this year.  BEC have provided me with the opportunity  to develop my skills and progress in my career while working for an exciting, forward-thinking company.  I’ve been supported with my studies and given the opportunity to get involved in different areas of the business and different projects.  I would recommend considering an apprenticeship to anyone”

What is a typical day at BEC like?

At BEC, every day is different.  You’ll be involved in local projects that make a difference.  As part of a small team, your voice really matters.

Based at Westlakes Science Park, you’ll work with our team, partners, customers and communities to manage our let estate portfolio, progress regeneration and development schemes and help us be net zero carbon by 2030.

We have many exciting projects on the go including a smart microgrid that will produce energy for our buildings and the creation of a performance venue and recording studio in the area.

How will BEC support me?

We offer a generous benefits package and support for our team members including:

  • 36 days holiday plus a day off for your birthday
  •  excellent pension & private healthcare
  • paid volunteering in an area close to your heart
  • routes into various sought-after careers
  • time off to complete your studies
  • dedicated mentor to support you during your apprenticeship
Interested?  Come along to our open day to find out more.

To become an apprenticeship you need to be over 16 (as of September), living in England and no longer in full-time education (when you start your apprenticeship).

We know you’ll have lots of questions about us and how apprenticeships work so we’d like you to come along to our BECADEMY day on Tuesday 31 May from 10am to 2pm at Westlakes Science Park where you can chat to us and meet the team.  Don’t worry, it won’t be boring – we’ve got a fun day planned and there will be plenty of refreshments so we hope you’ll come along.
