Dedicated bi-monthly events to replace drop in sessions in response to public feedback

3rd December 2018: BEC, the property developers behind North Shore, have unveiled a new event programme to help keep local residents and stakeholders informed about developments at North Shore.

In response to public feedback, the “#NorthShoreTuesday” weekly sessions at the ‘Hub on the Harbour’ will be replaced with bespoke group update sessions to allow people to be informed in a more collaborative setting.

The new events will happen bi-monthly starting on 18th December 2018. Running from 10am to 1pm the session will consist of a one hour’s presentation update with Q&A followed by a two-hour slot for drop in conversations. Places for the presentation should be booked here. Drop in meetings do not need to be booked.

Rob Miller, BEC’s head of property and development commented: “We are eager to engage with our stakeholders in the way that is best for them. The new group sessions will focus on a different topic every other month, with the first one being a general end-of-year update. We’ve archived a lot in the last few months and we have a lot to share.”

In person sessions at the hub are just one way of getting engaged. BEC’s online consultation will continue at and the company encourages anyone with questions to pick up the phone or get in touch online.

The North Shore scheme is being brought forward by BEC, with the help of partners including Copeland Borough Council and Whitehaven Harbour Commissioners. It proposes a 4* hotel, multi-story car park facility and circa 75,000 sq ft office development that will sit alongside the Buzz Station – Cumbria’s premier digital development. Road upgrades are ongoing in partnership with Cumbria County Council and BEC also aims for Whitehaven’s harbour front to become a beacon for sustainable development as it strives to be zero-net-carbon (ZNC).
