The Red Lion Hotel on Egremont’s Main Street closed in 2010 and was demolished in February 2020 leaving a gaping hole in the town’s high street.
BEC partnered with Copeland Borough Council to broker and secure the purchase of the two sites from the previous owners.
The former Red Lion Hotel site was acquired in June 2021 with a back to back sale agreed with Copeland Borough Council with a direct sale brokered for the remaining land.
The acquisition of the site is of strategic importance to the town and forms part of the wider plans from regeneration in Egremont.
