BEC will join partners from across Cumbria in Leeds next month for UKREiiF 2026, one of the UK’s leading events focused on regeneration, infrastructure and investment.
Taking place from 19–21 May, UKREiiF brings together investors, developers, local authorities, Government and industry leaders to explore opportunities that can unlock growth and support the delivery of major projects across the UK.
BEC will be part of the Cumbria Pavilion alongside Cumberland Council and Enterprising Cumbria, working together to showcase the scale of opportunity across the region and highlight projects shaping its future.
A key focus will be Pioneer Park, a major clean energy development located adjacent to the Sellafield site.
The site has been identified as a priority location for advanced nuclear technologies, AI-led infrastructure and other future-facing industries, helping position the area at the forefront of the UK’s transition to clean energy and digital growth.
Momentum behind Pioneer Park continues to build. Earlier this year, masterplanners Mott MacDonald and WSP were appointed to develop a robust masterplan for the site, with work now underway and expected to conclude within six months.
The masterplan will help set out how the site can support inward investment, create high-quality jobs and contribute to the long-term economic resilience of the area.
UKREiiF provides an opportunity to engage directly with investors, developers and policymakers, ensuring West Cumbria is represented in national conversations about infrastructure, energy and economic growth.
This year’s Cumbria Pavilion programme will also see Olympic champion Sir Bradley Wiggins headline activity, helping shine a national spotlight on the region’s ambition and opportunities ahead of Cumbria hosting stages of the Tour de France Grand Départ in 2027.
The presence of global investors, major developers, infrastructure providers and government representatives makes UKREiiF a key moment to demonstrate the strength of partnership working across Cumbria.
Michael Pemberton, Chief Executive of BEC, said: “UKREiiF is an important opportunity to showcase the strength of our region and the scale of opportunity we have here. Pioneer Park represents a significant long-term investment opportunity, building on West Cumbria’s expertise in nuclear, clean energy and advanced technologies.
“Working alongside partners including Cumberland Council, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and Sellafield Ltd, we are focused on bringing forward developments that create skilled employment, attract investment and support the long-term resilience of our local economy.
“Collaboration is key to delivering regeneration at scale, and the Cumbria Pavilion demonstrates the shared ambition across the region.”
As national focus continues to centre on energy security, infrastructure and regional growth, ensuring Cumbria is visible within these conversations is increasingly important.
