The Christmas 2025 Copeland & Allerdale project provided practical support and festive cheer for hundreds of families facing financial hardship, delivered by us in partnership with local organisations.
No child in West Cumbria went without a gift, and no family went without support during the last year's festive season.
As social impact property developers, we delivered the project in partnership with Cumberland Council, Rosehill Theatre, Sellafield Ltd, its supply chain, and a wide network of local organisations and volunteers.
Families received help to enjoy a festive meal, including meat, fruit and vegetable vouchers, easing financial pressure at a time when household costs are often at their highest.
Children received donated presents, while additional funding provided gift cards and age-appropriate gifts for children whose needs could not be met through the toy appeal. Special attention was given to older children and those with specific requests, ensuring every child felt seen and valued.
Families enjoyed creative activities, entertainment, storytelling, carol singing and festive food, as well as a visit to see Santa, while connecting with local support services in welcoming, non-judgemental spaces.
Festive events were held at Family Hubs in Millom, Whitehaven, Workington, Maryport and Wigton, alongside Hub2U’s mobile outreach.
The project reached more than 500 individuals, helping to reduce stress, isolation and anxiety at a time of year that can be particularly challenging. Families told us the support helped them feel valued and more connected locally.
Emma Williamson, Community Impact Manager at BEC, said:
“This project is about more than gifts and food – it’s about dignity, kindness, and making sure families feel supported and valued at Christmas. Seeing children smile and communities come together has been truly special.

Tracey West, Head of Social Impact at Sellafield Ltd, added:
“This project shows the power of partnership and community spirit, helping families feel supported, included and cared for at Christmas.”
Nikki Donaldson, Family Help and Manager, Participation and Outreach at Cumberland Council, said:
“Hub2U helps us reach families who might otherwise miss out, ensuring every community felt included and supported at Christmas.”
Beyond Christmas, the project strengthened partnerships between schools, charities, services and volunteers, while signposting families to ongoing support.
We’d like to thank all partners, volunteers and supporters who made the project possible, including Sellafield Ltd and its supply chain, Mitie, and the many residents who donated gifts and gave their time to spread Christmas joy across West Cumbria.
