We’re delighted to share that BEC has been awarded the Menopause Friendly Accreditation, recognising the work we’ve done to support colleagues and normalise conversations around menopause.
Michael Pemberton, BEC’s Chief Executive, said:
“I’m incredibly proud that we have achieved the Menopause Friendly Accreditation. It reflects the dedication and tenacity of our team and underlines our deep-rooted belief that we have a responsibility to support our people.
We want to create a culture where menopause can be talked about openly and without stigma, not just for the benefit of our colleagues but also for the communities we serve.
This accreditation is a testament to our ongoing commitment to inclusion, wellbeing and people-first values.”
The accreditation follows a rigorous assessment process, reviewed by an independent panel, where we were asked to demonstrate best practice across five key areas: culture, policies and practices, training, engagement, and the physical working environment.
At the heart of this achievement has been our willingness to open up conversations across the organisation – involving not just those experiencing menopause, but also younger colleagues and men – to increase awareness and understanding of its impact.
Elaine White, Finance Officer and Menopause Champion at BEC, played a leading role in the initiative:
“It’s heart-warming to celebrate this achievement. Leading on this initiative has been a privilege, and I’m so grateful for the support I’ve received throughout.
This recognition reflects a real team effort and a shared commitment to building a supportive and inclusive workplace where everyone feels seen and understood.
Normalising the menopause conversation is essential, and I’m proud we’re doing just that.”
The accreditation also drew praise from Deborah Garlick, CEO and Founder of Henpicked: Menopause in the Workplace:
“BEC’s commitment to supporting its people is deeply impressive. By starting conversations, listening to colleagues’ views, and making meaningful adjustments, BEC has created a menopause-friendly workplace grounded in empathy and action.”
This recognition is an important milestone for BEC, but more importantly, it reflects the culture we’re building together – one where wellbeing, inclusion, and openness are at the heart of how we work.
