We’re Looking for Makers to Lead Revive Workshops

Revive is coming to Whitehaven — a new space where creativity meets sustainability. We’re looking for workshop leaders to help people turn reclaimed materials into something truly special.

In this article

We’re on the lookout for creative makers, artists, and educators to help us turn ‘trash into treasure’ at Revive- our upcoming community furniture recycling facility opening early 2026 in Mirehouse, Whitehaven.

What is Revive?

Revive will provide a welcoming space for local people to donate furniture and household items, which will be sold or given away to those in need. But it’s more than that — this is a place where creativity, sustainability, and community meet.

Our goal is to boost local skills, tackle social isolation and reduce landfill waste through hands-on learning and collaboration.

Located at the former Focus Scaffolding site on Meadow Road, the project has already secured over £800,000 in funding from Well Whitehaven and Cumberland Council, paving the way for a vibrant centre dedicated to reuse, repair, and positive social impact.

Revive is about creativity, skills, environment, and community,” says Jordan Mattinson, our Operations Manager at Revive.

“We’re looking for workshop leaders who can inspire people to turn offcuts, pallets, textiles, and pre-loved furniture into something they’re proud to take home — all while helping the planet. Revive is part of our wider mission at BEC to deliver developments that create both social and environmental impact.”

What are we looking for?

We’re inviting proposals from makers, craftspeople, tutors, and tradespeople who want to deliver inclusive and engaging workshops at Revive. Sessions might cover:

  • Furniture repair and upcycling
  • Textile art and visible mending
  • Pallet projects and creative reuse
  • DIY and practical skills

…any activity that helps people see the potential in reclaimed materials!

Workshop leaders will receive paid opportunities, access to a fully equipped workspace, reclaimed materials, and full marketing and ticketing support. You’ll also be supported by volunteers and technicians to help deliver your sessions in an inclusive, community-led environment.

Get involved

If you’re passionate about sustainability, creativity, and community, we’d love to hear from you.

Submit a short proposal outlining your craft, workshop idea and availability via the contact form here
